Welcome to WWGN!  Please take a moment to say hi and introduce yourself when you join the community.  We hope you'll take advantage of the Community "books" to tell us more about yourself (WWGN Profiles), your experiences (Gifts & Losses) your support network (People in Our Corner) and those you miss having in your life (People We Remember), but a brief (or long!) intro here would be a great start to our community!

Thanks,
Debbie

Hi everyone. I'm Murray. I will write more soon, but just wanted to introduce myself. I am starting a cancer question and answer web site, http://talkabouthealth.com. I look forward to connecting with everyone!

Hi, I'm Barbara
I finished chemo a year ago and am still plagued with painful neuropathy in my feet, especially in the evening. I tried and stopped acupuncture (no relief)and taking gabepentin and Lyrica (bad side effects). Any helpful suggestions?

Thanks for joining WWGN Barbara!  So sorry to hear you are suffering from neuropathy due to chemotherapy.  I don't have any personal experience in this area so I will talk to people I know to see what I can come up with for you.  In the meantime, I suggest you look into destressing techniques, such as meditation, yoga, guided imagery and the like.  These alternative therapies are well known for helping to control pain and helping us cope with the after affects of cancer.

Hi Barbara:  I reached out to my breast nurse navigator, Sarah Mandel, and she suggested the following resources for your neuropathy:

Peripheral Neuropathy Center at Columbia University, Dr. Thomas Brannagan, Dr. Louis Weimer, and coordinator Rosario Sanchez, 212-305-0405;

Peripheral Neuropathy Center at Weill Medical College of Cornell; Dr. Norman Latov, Ph.D; Nurse Coordinator Corinna Cassillo, 646-962-3202.

Sarah suggested these two centers because they are focused solely on neuropathy.  I wish you every good luck and please let me know how you are doing.

Hi Claire:

Sorry it's seems like I was ignoring you....I'm new to this and didn't know how to find unverified comments.  But now I've found you and I'm so, so glad you're here!  Thank you for joining WWGN and a big, big thank you for your comment to the JBBC post.  I was so touched by it.  I write the blog and manage the site with the sole hope that I can make a difference to someone else going through cancer.  Your comment meant so much, so thank you again.

Keep in touch and please let me know how you're doing on your cancer journey.

Survival>Existence,

Debbie
