I Hope You Can Join Us at Our Cancer Survivorship Symposium!

I'm counting the days to September 29th because I can't wait to be in a room with other cancer survivors to talk about the mind, body and attitude of survivorship. We'll be meeting at Overlook Medical Center, 99 Beauvoir Avenue, Summit, NJ, bright and early in the morning. We're going to dig deep into the world of survivorship and what it takes to heal ourselves physically and emotionally.

Joining me to present the "body" part of the program is Lockey Maisonneuve. Lockey is a breast cancer survivor and cancer rehabilitative exercise specialist. Her MovingOn program has motivated hundreds of women to get moving after cancer treatments (including me!) You can read more about her in an interview I posted earlier. Don't miss what she has to say (and show you) about "Regaining Control After Cancer."

I'll be talking about Exploring the Emotional Healing Necessary to Create Your New Normal.” A tool I found indispensable to this process is the Gifts & Losses List, a process of introspection and honest personal evaluation. We will work together to create our own personal Gifts & Losses List and share the personal stories of our gifts and losses with each other. Every group I've worked with on these lists is astonished by their impact.

The symposium will be held at Overlook Hospital, Wallace Auditorium, 99 Beauvoir Avenue, Summit, NJ, on Saturday, September 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. A light breakfast will be served and there is no cost for attending. This promises to be a popular program, so register soon. Call Overlook at 1-800-247-9580 to save your seat today.

See you there!

Hi Debbie,

This sounds like a wonderful program indeed. Due to geographical challenges (I'm in the Midwest), I cannot attend. I do wish these were offered when I was finished with treatment.

Beth:

It's so important to talk about these issues. So many of us finish treatment and are left wondering, "How do I deal with the fall-out from all I've been through." I'm so honored and happy to be able to offer this program to survivors in my area. I wish you could be there.

Debbie,
This sounds fantastic! Wish I could be there, but alas, I am in Maine. I will be there in spirit!

Dawn:

I've been in Maine about five times in my life and have never, ever, said, "Alas." What a beautiful state! I am sorry though that you can't be with us and will be sending you our positive vibes.

Debbie

This sounds wonderful. How about a similar event on the West Cost?

James:

I would love to present this symposium on the West Coast. I was just there this summer and loved it! Maybe we should provide it as a webinar, what do you think?

Debbie
